Mahatma Hansraj Library of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a book exhibition “Explore Worlds in Words… A Book Exhibition to Inspire.” Dr. Ramesh Arya, Vice-President, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, was the Chief Guest while Mr. Samarth Sharma, CEO, National EduTrust of India, was the Guest of Honour for the event.
Renowned bookstores and publishers of Amritsar and New Delhi namely Ahuja Book Depot, National Book Distributors, Rajat Book Depot, Adab Prakashan, New Age International (P) Ltd. Publishers, and Taxmann displayed their books on a wide range of subjects in the exhibition.
While inaugurating the exhibition, Dr. Arya emphasized the importance of reading for personal growth and development, highlighting how it broadens knowledge, stimulates imagination, and enhances language and communication skills.
Sharing her views, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that reading enables us to experience so many lives through books. She added that stories, biographies, and historical accounts in the books broaden our understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives and thus foster empathy and appreciation for diversity.
Mr. Samarth Sharma, applauding the visionary leadership of Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia, said that under her guidance, the college has been thriving as a hub of academic and co-curricular achievements and fostering a culture of innovation.
On the occasion, college librarian Dr. Swati Datta said that the primary aim of organizing the book exhibition is to enrich the college library’s collection as well as inculcate and encourage the habit of reading amongst the students.
During the event, PG Department of Punjabi also organised an exhibition on Punjab’s rich heritage and culture, featuring a diverse collection of traditional artifacts. The exhibition spotlighted Punjab’s vibrant history, artistic traditions, and cultural essence, providing visitors with an immersive experience of its glorious past.
Department of Home Science set up a food stall offering a variety of delicacies of Indian cuisines The stall delighted visitors with its rich flavours, highlighting the department’s culinary expertise and passion for traditional food.
Students and teaching staff of the college as well as DAV Public School attended the exhibition with zeal.
