BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a special Havan Yajna to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Hansraj. Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Committee was the Mukhya Yajman for the Havan Yajna.
It is pertinent to mention that Dr. Pushpinder Walia, Principal, BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, was conferred the prestigious Mahatma Hans Raj Award for her exemplary and meritorious services in the cause of education. The award, presented to the Principals adjudged as the best by DAV CMC, was presented to Dr Walia by Padma Shri Dr. Punam Suri, President, DAV College Managing Committee, at Samarpan Diwas, a resplendent ceremony organised on 20th April 2024, at Panipat, Haryana, to celebrate the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Hansraj. On receiving this award, the staff as well as the guests present on the occasion, extended a warm welcome to Dr. Walia with bouquets and garlands. The gidda and folk orchestra teams of the college expressed their joy with their mesmerising performance.
While expressing her gratitude to the Divine Lord, Dr. Pushpinder Walia remembered the immense contribution of her late father to her achievements. She also thanked the Honourable President Dr. Punam Suri for his dynamic and inspiring leadership and also appreciated the excellent teamwork of the entire BBK family.
In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia recalled Mahatma Hansraj as an epitome of self-sacrifice and perseverance. She further emphasized that Mahatma Hansraj Ji played a pivotal role in the empowerment of India’s youth, leading to DAV emerging as the largest organization for this cause.
During the event, Sh. Inderpal Arya (President, Arya Samaj, Laxmansar and member, DAV CMC, New Delhi), highlighted Mahatma Hansraj’s revolutionary impact on education in the country. Sh. Rakesh Mehra (President, Arya Pratinidhi Upsabha, Punjab) acknowledged Mahatma Hansraj Ji’s contributions not only to educational institutions but also to the development of organizations like Punjab National Bank and LIC. Sh. Vipin Bhasin (Veteran Member, Local Committee) praised Mahatma Hansraj Ji as one of the greatest reformers of his time, particularly for his efforts towards the social upliftment of women. Sh. Jawahar Lal Ji (Member, Arya Samaj, Model Town) encouraged everyone to draw inspiration from Mahatma Hansraj’s sacrifices and integrate his principles into their lives.
Dr. Simardeep, Dean Academics, and Ms. Kiran Gupta, Dean Admissions, congratulated Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia on receiving the prestigious Mahatma Hansraj Award. Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor also extended his congratulations to Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia, acknowledging her exceptional achievements in the field of women’s education. He emphasized the importance of emulating Mahatma Hansraj’s selfless spirit and serving the nation with similar zeal and enthusiasm.
