The PG Department of Punjabi, BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, in collaboration with Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, organized a seminar to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the supreme sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. The seminar aimed to highlight the timeless message of Guru Sahib’s life and teachings and to explore their enduring relevance in the contemporary world.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia warmly welcomed the guests and participants. In her inaugural address, she emphasized that the teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, centred on freedom of faith, compassion, and righteousness continue to inspire humanity to uphold truth, moral integrity, and spiritual courage; she further highlighted His role as the pioneer champion of human rights, not as a political protest but as an act of moral righteousness because He made the supreme sacrifice to protect the rights of the weak and the oppressed.
In her keynote address, Mrs. Kiranjot Kaur, Member, SGPC, shed light on the life, Gurbani, and sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, while vividly portraying the political and social milieu of that era, offering valuable insights into the historical significance of Guru Sahib’s contribution.
Mrs. Kawaljit Kaur recited a heartfelt poem dedicated to the great sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, imbuing the atmosphere with devotion and reverence.
Ms. Jaswinder Kaur spoke about Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji as the true guardian of human rights, highlighting how his legacy continues to guide the principles of justice and equality even today.
On this occasion, Women’s Wing of Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle organized an online essay competition dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, in which 180 students from 40 colleges participated enthusiastically. In this competition, Bisman Kaur, B.A. Semester III, secured the second position, while Arushi Mahajan, B.Com Semester III, earned a special distinction among the top ten commendations.
In a gesture of deep appreciation, the Women Wing of Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle honoured Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia for her tireless dedication and outstanding leadership in the field of education. The event was attended by faculty and students of the college in a large number.
