BBK DAV College for Women celebrated Swacchta Pakhwada -15 days cleanliness drive under UGC notification as a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. After the culmination of the two- weeks long celebrations, a valedictory function was organised in which Ms. Alka Kalia, PCS, ADC Amritsar was the Chief Guest and Dr. Swaraj Grover, eminent educationist & social activist was the Guest of Honour.
Welcoming the guests, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that cleanliness is the main concern of the nation and the Government of India. BBK DAV College for Women has always been working wholeheartedly in sync with the goals of the government. She congratulated the NSS team on the completion of this programme and also highlighted the evils that are plaguing our society and how youth can eradicate them. She believes that youth of today has the power to bring the desired change in society by actively participating in such schemes which are executed for the betterment of nation. Appreciating the college initiative, Ms. Alka Kalia encouraged the students to work diligently for the welfare of the society and take small steps which can bring big changes in the society. Dr. Swaraj Grover highlighted the need for women empowerment and said that we should always prioritize national interest.
The winners of various competitions organised under the scheme were awarded by the dignitaries present on the occasion. ‘Best NSS Volunteer Award’ was given to Muskan Marwaha. Navjot Kaur and Arshdeep Kaur were awarded the ‘Best Campaign Award’, Nishtha and Mannat Mahajan were awarded the ‘Best Environment Conservator Award’. Komal Neb, Ayushi Gupta and Garima Agarwaal were endowed with the ‘Lens Woman Award’. A total of 100 volunteers participated and 55 were honoured.

Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC, Dr. Anita Narendra, Associate Professor in Hindi, Mrs. Renu Vashisth, Professor in Sanskrit, NSS Programme Officers, Mrs. Surbhi Sethi, Ms. Priya Sharma, Dr. Shveta Kapoor, Ms. Neha Sehgal, Mr. Palwinder, Dr. Sahil Gupta, Dr. Harminder Singh and Ms. Priyanka Chug were also present.
