BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised the Awards Ceremony of 30 Day Environment Challenge in collaboration with National EduTrust of India, registered under Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India. The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. Samarth Sharma, CEO, National EduTrust of India, who was warmly welcomed by Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia and Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee.
In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia underscored the importance of community service and Ten Principles of Arya Samaj in the modern context. She further added how ancient Vedic scriptures advocated the idea of eco-consciousness and mother earth. While concluding her speech, she reiterated the commitment of the college to work diligently towards the cause of environmental sustainability.
During his speech, Mr. Samarth Sharma acknowledged the various feats of the college for supporting environmental sustainability and conferred the college with an Eco-Friendly College Certificate. He also honored Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia with the Eco-Visionary Award for being an indefatigable supporter of global environmental issues. He also motivated the students to be creative and passionate in every aspect of their life.
In addition, Mehakdeep Kaur (B.Com Semester V), Head Girl, summed up various activities performed during the course of this challenge, such as tree plantation drive, zero waste cooking, switch to LED lighting, no car day, plant-based day, water-wise gardening and poster-making competitions held on the theme of “Clean and Green India”. Another student Arya Kapoor (BBA Semester V) shared her personal learning experience of the 30 Day Environment Challenge.
On this occasion, winners of the competition were awarded certificates and recognized as Green Ambassadors. Furthermore, Ms. Surbhi Sethi, Nodal Officer, and Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, Co-ordinator, were also honored with the Green Guide Award for their illustrious work. The event culminated with a vote of thanks proposed by Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee.
