PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration, BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a workshop on ‘Financial Literacy and Investor Awareness: Empowering India’s Start-Up’ in collaboration with Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) to celebrate National Start-up Day. The workshop aimed to enhance students’ understanding of financial planning, investment opportunities and investor protection.
Mr. Bhagwant Singh, Principal (retd.) and certified SEBI trainer, was the keynote speaker. In his address, he highlighted the importance of financial literacy in today’s rapidly evolving economic environment and guided students on making informed investment decisions. He also elaborated on the functioning of India’s start-up ecosystem and emphasized the role of NISM, the educational arm of SEBI, in promoting investor education and awareness.
The workshop featured an engaging interactive session where students gained valuable knowledge about financial planning, investment strategies and safeguarding themselves from financial risks.
While appreciating the efforts, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia stated that such initiatives play a vital role in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. She further remarked that financial literacy is an essential life skill and workshops such as these empower students with the awareness required to make responsible financial decisions.
The workshop was attended by Dr. Neetu Bala, Head, PG Department of Commerce, along with Ms. Binnie Sharma, Ms. Priya Sharma and students.
