NSS Unit of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, observed World No Tobacco Day 2025 in which Dr. Balbir Singh, Former Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, GNDU, Amritsar, was the resource person. The theme of this year’s celebration was “Bright Products. Dark Intentions. Unmasking the Appeal”. While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Balbir Singh remarked that the World No Tobacco Day highlights the health risks associated with tobacco consumption, including cancer, heart disease, and respiratory illnesses, and advocated for effective measures need to be implemented to reduce its use. He further said that awareness is prerequisite in order to curb the deceptive marketing tactics of tobacco companies, which lure the young generation towards these poisonous products. In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia highlighted that the day serves as a powerful reminder to educate the public about the detrimental effects of tobacco use. She further added that strong preventive measures are a vital step toward achieving a healthier, tobacco-free future for individuals and communities around the globe. On this occasion, Dr. Anita Narendra, Dean, Community Development Initiatives, Ms. Surbhi Sethi and Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, NSS Programme Officers, along with sixty-two NSS volunteers, were present.
