BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, observed World AIDS Day under the Red Ribbon Club, a movement initiated by the Government of India to spread awareness against HIV/AIDS. To mark the occasion, Red Ribbon Club of the college conducted a series of activities including a poster-making competition, Red Ribbon formation and an awareness rally held to raise awareness about the fatal disease and its implications.
In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia highlighted that World AIDS Day is an opportunity to make people aware of AIDS related illnesses and unite in the fight against HIV. She also added that this occasion marks the importance of collective action, education and compassion in striving towards a future free from HIV/AIDS stigma and its transmission.
On this occasion, Dr Anita Narinder, Dean, Community Development Initiatives, Dr. Beenu Kapoor, Convenor, Red Cross Unit, Ms. Surbhi Sethi, NSS Programme Officer, and (Lt.) Dr. Amandeep Kaur, along with fifty college students and faculty, were present.
