BBK DAV College for Women held a training session for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) under the supervision of the District Election Office, Amritsar. The training was held as part of the ongoing preparations for the upcoming elections and in line with the directives of the Election Commission of India to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections.
During the training, officials from Election Commission of India highlighted the roles and responsibilities of BLOs in maintaining accurate electoral rolls, conducting door-to-door verification, ensuring inclusivity in voter enrollment, and spreading voter awareness under the “Be Responsible – Be Voter” campaign. Smt. Lata Tripathi, Secretary, Election Commission, laid special emphasis on the use of technology for efficient data management and grievance redressal. The session also focused on the importance of accessibility at polling stations to facilitate senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and first-time voters.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia extended a warm welcome to the Election Commission officials and BLOs. She emphasized the crucial role of voter awareness in strengthening democracy and lauded the efforts of the Election Commission in bringing transparency to the electoral process.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, where queries of the BLOs were addressed by the officials. The participants expressed gratitude for the training and reiterated their commitment to fulfilling their responsibilities with diligence and integrity. Dr. Sapna Gupta, Nodal Officer, SVEEP Activities and Dr. Sweety, Head, Department of Physical Education were also present during the event.
