BBK DAV College for Women organized the valedictory ceremony of its Seven-Day Special Annual NSS Camp with great enthusiasm, marking the successful completion of a week-long programme dedicated to service, discipline and social awareness. The event highlighted the collective efforts of NSS volunteers who actively participated in community-oriented, cultural and creative activities throughout the camp.
Prof. Dr. Balbir Singh, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and NSS Coordinator, Guru Nanak Dev University, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, he emphasized the core values of NSS, particularly discipline, respect and kindness towards parents, and motivated the students to become responsible role models for the society. He appreciated the commitment of the volunteers and inspired them to continue serving the community with sincerity and compassion.
NSS President, Ms. Bhavya, B.Com Semester V, shared her experiences of the 7-day camp and reflected on the learning, teamwork and sense of social responsibility gained by the volunteers. A total of 102 NSS volunteers were awarded certificates for their participation in the camp. Bhavya and Shreya Sharma of B.Com Semester V were honored as “Best Campers,” and in the same spirit of recognition, certificates were also conferred upon Simran and Damak as “Empathy Ambassador,” Kashvi as “Innovation Pioneer,” Ridhima as “Creativity Catalyst,” Divyanshi as “Community Spark,” Vedita as “Service Trailblazer,” Bidisha as “Resilience Champion” and Gundeep Kaur as “Lens Woman” for their commendable contributions.
The cultural segment of the programme featured a meaningful nukkad natak on the theme “Screen aur Sanskar,” highlighting the impact of excessive screen usage on values. The volunteers also rendered the NSS song “Swayam Saje Vasundhra Sawar De,” spreading the message of selfless service. Creative expressions through rangoli and posters based on NSS themes added color and vibrancy to the event.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia, in her address, applauded the efforts of the NSS team and volunteers for organizing a purposeful camp. She stated that such activities help in inculcating values of empathy, leadership and social commitment among students and urged them to carry the spirit of NSS into their daily lives.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Anita Narendra, Dean, Community Development Initiatives, Ms. Surbhi Sethi and Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, NSS Programme Officers, Dr. Palwinder Singh, and Ms. Sumera Narang, who encouraged students to remain actively engaged in community service.
