BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organized an inauguration ceremony of a Six-day AICTE-sponsored ATAL Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Artificial Intelligence: Concepts, Applications and Challenges”. Prof. (Dr.) Karamjit Singh Chahal, Registrar, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, was the Chief Guest for the inauguration ceremony of the FDP.
In her welcome address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that academic initiatives like faculty development programmes form the core of an educational institution, as they enrich faculty and foster intellectual growth. She emphasized that Artificial Intelligence presents both significant opportunities and serious challenges, highlighting that while it holds immense promise, it also carries inherent perils that must be addressed with responsibility and awareness.
Prof. (Dr.) Karamjit Singh Chahal, while addressing the participants, underscored the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence in higher education and research. He added that AI is transforming teaching-learning processes, research methodologies, and institutional governance.
The first technical session was conducted by Dr. Gurvinder Singh, Professor, Computer Department, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. It revolved around the theme “NEP and NCF: Paradigm Shift and AI Challenges”. The second technical session was conducted by Ms. Jasleen Kaur Tuli, Customer Success Manager, AOSC Technologies. The session focused on the theme “Role of Generative AI in Research”. Subsequently, a hands-on training session was organised to provide participants with practical exposure to AI technology applications.
Participants from various institutions across India, along with college faculty members, enthusiastically attended the faculty development programme.
