The NSS Unit of BBK DAV College for Women successfully celebrated National Youth Week from 12th January to 19th January, 2026 with great enthusiasm and active student participation to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand and to promote youth engagement in nation building under the themes “Youth for MyBharat” and “Viksit Bharat Ka Sankalp aur Yuva.” A variety of academic, creative and skill-based activities were conducted during the programme.
The celebrations commenced with a Quiz on National Youth Day on 12th January, 2026, aimed at enhancing awareness about the life and teachings of Swami Vivekanand, in which Jessica Kaur (B.Com Semester II) secured the first position, Antriksha Gupta (B.Com Semester IV) stood second, and Varmeet Kaur (B.Sc. Biotechnology) secured the third position.
Other activities included a Rangoli Competition on the theme “Viksit Bharat 2047” and a Skill Development Workshop on “Youth for MyBharat.” A Poster Making Competition on the themes “Youth for MyBharat” and “Viksit Bharat Ka Sankalp aur Yuva” was also organised, in which Gorika (BFA Semester II) secured the first position, Rajneet Kaur (B.Com Semester II) won the second position, and Muskan (BA Semester IV) secured the third position.
An Essay Writing Competition was organised in English, Hindi and Punjabi to encourage critical thinking and effective expression among students. In the English Essay Writing Competition, Diya Anand (BBA Semester II) secured the first position, Anshika Tiwari (BCA Semester IV) stood second, and Jaspreet Kaur (BCA Semester IV) bagged the third position. In the Punjabi Essay Writing Competition, Muskaan Kapoor (BCA Semester II) secured the first position, Bindiya (BCA Semester II) stood second, and Upasana Arora (BA Semester IV) secured the third position. In the Hindi Essay Writing Competition, Ritika (B.Sc. Economics Semester II) and Savita Sharma (B.Sc. Non-Medical Semester II) jointly secured the third position.
Dr. Pushpinder Walia, Principal, BBK DAV College for Women, appreciated the efforts of the NSS Unit and faculty members and remarked that such initiatives are instrumental in shaping responsible, disciplined and socially conscious youth inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekanand and committed to the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
