BBK DAV College for Women celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2022 and the Department of Physical Education as well as the NCC and NSS Units of the college participated in the event with great fervour, in the inspirational leadership of Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia.
In her address to the gathering, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia accentuated the merits of Yoga in daily life. She highlighted the therapeutic effects of yoga that are intrinsically instrumental in alleviating any kind of physical, physiological, emotional and spiritual suffering. It is viewed as a holistic stress management technique that enhances overall well-being and quality of life.
The event started with the live streaming of honourable Prime Minister’s address on ‘Yoga for Humanity’. He said that Yoga brings peace to our nation, the world and the whole universe. It was followed by a productive session of yoga by Ms. Sunita Mahajan and Mr. Rajesh Bhatia, members of Bhartiya Yog Sansthan. The Principal, faculty and the students enthusiastically took part in the session. Addressing the participants, Ms. Sunita Mahajan said that yoga has the power to heal and is helpful in maintaining the equilibrium between body and mind and shared her own valuable experience of having benefited from practising yoga regularly.
Dr. Anita Narinder, Dean Community Development Initiatives, NSS Programme Officer Ms. Surbhi Sethi, Ms. Sweety Bala , Head, Department of Physical Education, Dr. Palwinder Singh and Dr. Sahil Gupta, members , NSS, and Ms. Sumera Chhabra, Department of English, Ms. Savita and Ms. Veena, Department of Physical Education participated in the event.
