BBK DAV College for Women celebrated Independence Day with great patriotic fervor. Subedar Major & Honorary Capt. Satpal Singh, Sena Medal, Training Sub Major, 1 Pb. Girls Bn, NCC, Amritsar, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest for the ceremony.
The day commenced with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by an oath-taking ceremony for a drug-free India under “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan”. A street play titled “Mein Bharat Hu,” on the occasion of the nation’s 78th year of independence, was also performed during the event. Additionally, an exhibition on Partition Horror Remembrance Day was displayed in the college foyer. Volunteers from the NSS unit of the college participated in tree plantation in the presence of the esteemed guests.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcomed the Chief Guest with a sapling and congratulated the staff and students on this auspicious occasion. She reiterated the immense faith that over a billion citizens of India place in the Indian Army, emphasizing its crucial role in border security, counter-terrorism ventures, as well as providing essential support to civil administration when required. In his address, Chief Guest Subedar Major & Honorary Capt. Satpal Singh highlighted the challenges and hardships faced by soldiers. He also discussed the role of NCC in fostering strong character, courage, comradeship, leadership, and discipline among the youth. Havaldar Kuldip Singh was also welcomed with a sapling on this event. Advocate Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Committee, delivered the vote of thanks and urged the youth to contribute to nation-building with honesty and integrity.
