BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar inaugurated the Swachhta Pakhwara by organizing the Swachhta Oath-taking Ceremony in which NSS volunteers & NCC Cadets along with other students took pledge to remain committed towards the cause of cleanliness. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, NSS Coordinator, GNDU, was the Chief Guest in this Oath Ceremony.
Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC and Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia administered cleanliness oath to the NSS volunteers in the presence of Dr. Kumar and NSS programme officers. The volunteers took oath that they would neither litter nor let others litter. They further pledged to keep their campus, city, state and country clean. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia told that during the 15 day Swachhta Pakhwara Programme, the volunteers will visit the adopted village for creating awareness regarding personal and environmental hygiene. During the fortnight, competitions like essay writing, poster making, Tree Plantation Drive, Awareness Rally and Rain-Water Harvesting will also be held to sensitize the students for cleanliness of environment and nature. She said that foreign countries are neat and clean because their citizens do not indulge in littering at all; therefore, we should emulate them. She also exhorted the volunteers to devote 100 hours every year towards the cause of cleanliness.
Dr. Walia congratulated the NSS and NCC programme officers and the volunteers for taking this initiative. On this occasion, Dr. Aditi Jain, NCC caretaker and NSS programme officer Mrs. Priya, along with other faculty members participated.
