BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar organised a Tree Plantation Drive under “Each One Plant One” initiative, under the directions of Punjab and Haryana High Court, in order to promote the idea of environmental sustainability. The event was graced by Hon’ble Judge S. Amardeep Singh, CJM, District Courts, Amritsar. NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in the plantation drive. Under the campaign, saplings of Indian blackberry (jamun), guava, along with plants of medicinal value were planted in the lawn of the college.
Adding further meaning to the event, the plantation was also conducted under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, honouring the selfless contribution of mothers and nurturing a deeper emotional connection with nature.
In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia emphasized the importance of trees, highlighting that such initiatives play a vital role in fostering environmental consciousness and mitigating the impacts of climate change. She further added that these saplings symbolize seeds of awareness and action, nurturing a legacy of sustainability for future generations.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Judge S. Amardeep Singh emphasized the importance of collective action in protecting the environment. He applauded the college’s efforts in fostering ecological awareness and appreciated the active involvement of students in such meaningful initiatives.
On this occasion, NSS Programme Officers Ms. Surbhi Sethi and Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, Dr. Rashmi Kalia, Incharge, Eco Club, Dr. Shweta Mohan, Incharge, Eco Club, Dr. Palwinder Singh and Dr. Sahil Gupta were also present.
