BBK DAV College for Women organises Valedictory Function to conclude Seven-day NSS Camp

NSS Units of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a valedictory function to conclude the seven-day special NSS Camp in which Dr. Anil Kumar, NSS Co-ordinator, GNDU, marked his presence as the chief guest. The theme of this year’s camp was “Youth for My Bharat and Digital Literacy”.

During his address, Dr. Anil Kumar highlighted the significance of community service and acknowledged the persistent efforts of the volunteers. He also motivated the volunteers to always give back to the needy people, especially the marginalised ones. Lastly, he added that it is of paramount importance to connect with the people around us instead of connecting with them via social networking sites.

Addressing the volunteers, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia lauded their efforts and emphasised upon the need and importance of community welfare. She further added that real joy lies in serving others and making the world around us a better place to live in.

During the function, an award ceremony was held in which NSS volunteers Arya and Chahat were awarded as the Best Campers, Best Lens Woman title went to Shivani, Sapna Mishra, Bhavya and Tisha Ruthra were titled as Kindness Ambassador, Shining Star and Beacon of Social Service respectively, whereas Mehakdeep Kaur was given the award for Innovative Ideas. In addition, Kashish Thakur, Shreya Sharma, Navya Yadav and Neha Khuranna were presented with being Resilient Contributors. Certificates were also distributed to the volunteers who participated in the camp. Divanshi and Harshita Vohra, students of B.Com Semester 5, shared their experiences of the entire camp. A special song was also sung glorifying the communitarian spirit of NSS. The function concluded with the presentation of a nukkad natak based on the theme of environmental conservation.

Ms. Surbhi Sethi, NSS Programme Officer, summed up all activities performed during the entire camp and dwelled upon the impact of NSS development initiatives on the participants. Additionally, Ms. Kiran Gupta, Head, PG Department of Computer Science, read the report of the entire camp. On this occasion, Dr. Anita Narendra, Dean Community Development Initiatives, Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, NSS Programme Officer, along with Dr. Palwinder Singh, Dr. Sushil Kumar and Ms. Akshika Aneja, were present.
