BBK DAV College for Women organises Seven-day Special NSS Camp

NSS Units of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised seven-day special annual NSS Camp based on the theme “Youth for My Bharat and Digital Literacy”. The camp featured a series of activities including workshops, awareness lectures, and visits to the adopted village Malawali and Tabowali.

The camp was inaugurated with a special havan yagya followed by awareness lectures held on the topics, such as My Bharat Portal benefits, drug trafficking and the importance of Vedic values in the contemporary times. The second day highlighted a workshop on the theme ” Best out of Waste”, after which tree plantation drive in the Government Middle School of Malawali and awareness sessions on the “Role of Youth in Environmental Conservation”  by Ms. Surbhi Sethi and “Sustainable Development Goals” by Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal were organised. The next day witnessed a workshop on “Effects of Texture “ and the donation of items, such as clothes, food and stationery as well as a nukkad natak presented on the topic of environmental conservation , all of these were followed by a rally creating awareness against drug abuse. The subsequent day accentuated a First-aid Camp in collaboration with Amandeep Hospital, along with a workshop on “Tye and Dye”, followed by an awareness lecture on the role of youth in community service delivered by Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Head, Department of Sociology, GNDU. During the fifth day, the NSS volunteers visited Guru Ram Das Old Age Home whereas on the penultimate day, the volunteers performed seva by participating in community meal in a gurudwara at the adopted village, subsequently featuring an awareness lecture on voters rights and duties.

In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia emphasised the need of inculcating the spirit of community service amongst the youth and motivated the NSS volunteers to always give back to society. She also lauded the persistent efforts of Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal and Ms. Surbhi Sethi, NSS Programme Officers, as well as the entire NSS team.
