NSS unit of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a Dental Hygiene Camp on the sixth day of its seven-day NSS camp to create awareness about dental ailments with emphasis on brushing techniques, tooth decay, gum diseases and measures used to prevent them. The camp was screened by Dr. Rajveer Singh, M.D.S., Orthodontics, and Dr. Mandeep Kaur, M.D.S., Pendodontics. A total of 80 students along with 10 faculty members were given free dental check-up during the camp.
In his address, Dr. Rajveer Singh, M.D.S., Orthodontics, highlighted the importance of brushing and visiting a dentist once a year. He further added that our food choices and eating patterns play a significant role in maintaining dental health. Dr. Mandeep Kaur, M.D.S., Pedodontics, foregrounded the significance of healthy body which can be maintained through healthy teeth.
A Tree Plantation Drive was also organised in the presence of chief guests Dr. Rajveer Singh and Dr. Mandeep Kaur. A few trees namely sukhchain, arjun and jamun were planted in the college premises.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia felicitated the entire NSS team on the successful conduct of the event and also motivated the volunteers to follow the guidelines given by the guest speakers.
On this occasion, NSS Co-ordinator Dr. Anita Narendra, NSS Program Officers Ms. Surbhi Sethi and Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal along with other team members namely Dr. Palwinder Singh, Ms. Ravinderpal Kaur, Ms. Muskan and Ms. Saguna were also present.
