Dr. Pawan Kumar, Scientist ‘C’, Department of Science and Technology, WISE-KIRAN Division, New Delhi, visited the Nanotechnology Research Lab-Department of Chemistry, BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, to review the ongoing project work of Women Scientists Scheme (WOS-B) undertaken by Ms. Rajpreet Kaur on “Purification of Byproduct Biodiesel Glycerol and Its Application in Cosmetic Industry”.
Ms. Rajpreet Kaur (Principal Investigator) is currently engaged in the aforementioned project, under the able guidance of Dr. Poonam Khullar, Scientist Inventor, which is to be completed within the period of three years. To promote more research projects in the future, the Department of Science and Technology, WISE-KIRAN Division, New Delhi, sanctioned a grant of Rupees 23 lakh.
Dr. Pawan Kumar, Scientist ‘C’, reviewed the NICOMP- Nano Particle Size Analyser facility provided by the college, which is owned only by five institutions in the entire country. While visiting the labs as well as terrace botanical garden of the college, he applauded the efforts of Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia and the entire team.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia extended a warm welcome to Dr. Pawan Kumar (DST Officer) and hailed the efforts of the research team members namely Dr. Poonam Khullar, Ms. Vandana Gupta, Ms. Prabhjot Kaur, Ms. Lavanaya and Ms. Amandeep Kaur and also added that research is an indispensable part of a nation’s growth. She lauded the endeavors of the Government of India for promoting specially the work of women scientists. Chairman Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor also appreciated the efforts of the College faculty as well as the support of the Govt. for their research project.
