The PG Department of Applied Arts, Fine Arts and Design of BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar organized Painting Exhibition and Recitation Competition to mark the celebrations of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2021.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia and Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC, welcomed the Chief Guest, Dr Tajinder Kaur Nagpal, Director and Chief Consultant, Hartej Hospital, with saplings. Mr. Gaurav Gupta, Deputy General Manager, Punjab National Bank honoured Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia.
While felicitating the gathering on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Principal Dr. Walia said that a woman is the pillar of the society. She further said that education is a prerequisite for the empowerment of women as it instills confidence and ensures their financial independence. Dr. Tajinder Kaur Nagpal emphasized the independence and safety of women. She also added that daily reports about the harassment of women are heart-rending and therefore it is important for a woman to learn security for her independent existence.
On this occasion, the students of various departments namely Pahulpreet Kaur, Kritika, Khushi Kapoor, Muskan Handa, Sakshi Gupta, Samridhi Kundra and Deepali recited poems.
Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC concluded the event with a vote of thanks and appreciated the role of women for the upliftment of the nation.
