President’s Message (1st January 2024)
Dear friends & colleagues,
Achieve more in ‘24
I wish all my colleagues & friends at the DAV and the Arya Samaj, the very best in the forthcoming year, 2024. While we celebrate 200th birth anniversary year of Maharishi Dayanand ji, I pray to the Almighty that we may all have a peaceful, healthy and fruitful year ahead, while living within the parameters set forth by Swami ji.
This is the season to make resolutions. Let us resolve to make ourselves a better person like we always wanted to be. Let us “achieve more in ‘24”. If in the past, we have had some problems, let us resolve to convert that failure into a fertiliser and through this fertiliser, grow a bumper crop of achievements. Remember great lives do not happen by chance, they are created by design. The best way to create is to get started, and get started now. In 2024, maximise every moment and use every opportunity that comes your way.
Let us further resolve that while we grow in physical and material achievements, we will also grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We will ensure that the year 2024, will see us as more stable, more mature personalities proving to the world, through our personal example, that the “ultimate aim of all education is to build character.”
Alec Bourne, a British writer, once said that “It is possible to store the mind with a million facts and still be entirely uneducated.” Education is not the mere acquisition of impressive degrees; nor is education about filling the mind with knowledge, statistics, facts, and definitions; nor is it merely sharpening the brain; nor is it about making a living. Education is about making a life – and making that life count. Education should teach not what to think, but how to think, how to think out of the box, and be creative.
Let all the DAV and Aryas, in this new year, join in prayer to the Almighty, to give us the strength to improve ourselves and become better persons. We also pray to the Almighty to grant us wisdom to guide the young DAVians, not only in becoming learned citizens but learning citizens. A truly great country is of learners – where the urge to know, and the desire to learn is ignited in every human being.
With these thoughts, have a great time and enjoy the journey towards achievement.

President’s Message on Diwali (24th October, 2022)
Dear friends,
Happy Diwali! Let us together celebrate this Diwali and make it a memorable one. While we illuminate our homes, let us pledge to re-dedicate ourselves to spread the light of truth in the hearts of all those we come in contact with, specially our colleagues and students. Thus filling their lives with happiness and smiles.
Swami Dayanand ji while writing Satyarth Prakash, (The Light of Truth), said: “The man, who resolves to stick to the truth at all costs, steadily rises in virtues. When his virtues raise his reputation and prestige, he becomes all the more a devotee of truth. This devotion to truth becomes an unerring source of power and greatness.” So on this day when Swami ji attained Moksh, let us together pledge to make the DAV truly powerful and great.
Let us think of all those less fortunate. Let every DAV Institution, its Principal, staff and students celebrate Deepawali using “ Earthen Diyas” so that our less fortunate brothers, the potters may also happily celebrate Diwali with their families. This will also help preserve the environment.
Remember, it is our responsibility to hand over a clean and pure Earth to the next generation, hence, we should keep this day pollution free. Celebrate with all your loved ones, your colleagues, and friends, laugh a lot and spread happiness all around.
Have a great and a happy Diwali.

President’s Message on Diwali (4th November, 2021)
Dear Friends,
On the auspicious occasion of this Diwali, I send my warmest greetings to you all.
I believe the essence of this festival lies in the sloka, ‘Tamaso ma jyotirgamaya‘, meaning “Lead me from darkness to light.” On this festival of lights, therefore, we must light the lamp of happiness, prosperity and knowledge to dispel sorrow, poverty, ignorance and disease. Incidentally, it seems we might have beaten the pandemic which till recently gave us lot of agony but made the mankind stronger in will to have withstood such turbulent times. It looks the darker days are past us and hope is on the horizon again.
The day is historic for one more reason, as Swami Dayanand ji attained Moksha on this very day. In his book Satyarth Prakash (The Light of Truth), Swamiji wrote “The man, who resolves to stick to the truth at all costs, steadily rises in virtues. When his virtues raise his reputation and prestige, he becomes all the more a devotee of truth. This devotion to truth becomes an unerring source of power and greatness.” Let us, therefore, this day rededicate ourselves to adhere to these principles and take the DAV movement to greater heights of prestige glory.
I pray that this Diwali bring joy and happiness to the DAV fraternity and their families. May it be the harbinger of happiness for the entire mankind.
Lastly let us have a pollution-free and safe Diwali, so that we handover a cleaner planet to our next generation
KEEP SMILING & BE HAPPY!

President’s Message (1st January 2021)
Dear brothers and sisters,
On the eve of the New Year 2021, I convey to you my warm greetings. We are about to bid adieu to the year 2020 which, owing to the pandemic conditions, posed many challenges to the entire mankind. Like all other sectors, the education sector too faced difficulties. With the prospects of the vaccine coming soon, I hope that DAV Institutions will soon be back to normal.
For this new year, let us pledge to follow the path shown by Maharishi Dayanand ji to inculcate in our children the values of reverence, devotion, service and co-operation. Let the DAV institutions spread the message of divine love and peaceful co-existence.
During these difficult times, I request you all to wear masks, maintain social distance let us take full care of your health, because it is only then that we will have the strength to serve God’s creations – whether it be man, animal or the environment. I pray to the Almighty to give us the strength to serve and strengthen the DAV movement while the sound of AUM resonates from every heart.
I convey seasons greetings to the entire Arya Samaj and the DAV fraternity. Have a great year ahead. KEEP SMILING!

President’s Message (3rd April 2020)
My Brothers and Sisters,
While the entire human race has got together to fight the deadly Virus which is running unabated attacking lacs of people and killing thousands, the news about the role of some misguided, fanatics is shocking. Their extremely wrong and deplorable behaviour of flouting the Lockdown rules and then, above all, pelting stones and spitting at the Doctors and other health workers, is absolutely intolerable. These medical and para-medical workers are our first and ONLY line of defence in our battle against COVID 19. They are our heros and Saviours. So, let us all pray to the Almighty to give wisdom to these misguided souls and guide their “Budhi” in the right direction.
I am deeply touched by the immediate and overwhelming response to my appeal which I made two days ago. I have received numerous calls and mails supporting this move. Money is pouring into the DAV College Managing Committee Relief Fund Account. Many have given more than their one days salary. The Alumni of DAV have specially risen to answer this appeal. The money so collected will be transferred to the PM CARES FUND immediately. Under the dynamic leadership of our Honourable PM, Shri Narinder Modi ji, India seems to be fighting the battle in the correct way, and will, soon, see the end of Corona Virus. Let us strengthen the hands of our PM by following his advice of staying indoors, maintaining Social distancing, and ensuring good personal hygiene.
I am great-full to the teachers who have shifted to the online teaching methods. Many videos have been prepared by our teachers and new skills have been shown by them. I request the Directors to please search for talent amongst these teachers. I would like to start an Incubator for Principals of DAV. The talented ones and the ones with a spark can be trained to give them a better chance of becoming DAV Principals of tomorrow.
I heard a story on TV yesterday that Vidur asked Yodhishtar. If the entire jungle was to burn, then which animals will survive? Yodhishtar replied that the strong animals, like Lions, Tigers, Elephants, etc will all perish. Animals that can run very fast, like deer, rabbits, etc will also die. Only the animals that stay in their burrows will survive. So please stay at home, stay healthy, and stay gainfully employed.
Let us all pray to the Almighty to keep us united and give us the strength to tide over this crisis. Take care! I will be praying for you.
Yours, in prayer,
President

President’s Message (26th March 2020)
Dear Brothers and sisters,
Sitting with my iPad, I could not resist thanking you for all the measures that you have taken to break the growth chain of human enemy no1, Corona Virus. I also must thank you for the quick adaptation and the transition to “On Line Teaching” methods and the “Work from Home” concept. The Directors, ROs, AROs, Principals, the teaching & non-teaching staff have proven to the world that DAV is conscientious of the requirements of the society and as always, has a positive response to meet any challenges. For the last 133 years, DAV has served humanity whenever any National or Natural calamity has demanded. While thanking you, I feel humbled at the thought that I too serve this great Nation along with you.
पड़ा रहने दे किसी कोने में, ए माली,
काँटा ही सही, मिला तो हूँ गुलिस्ताँ में ।
While the Schools are busy with their “On Line Teaching” methods, I feel we should keep in mind that our child is as afraid as the adults are, for the fear of the unknown. It is for the first time that independent Bharat has faced a three-week long curfew, hence the Schools, God Willing, will reopen on the 15th April 2020. Such a long time to be cooped up in a small house, can tell on the psyche of a child. It is very difficult for him to understand why he cannot go out to meet his friends nor can his friends come to him. He may become restless and become a problem at home. The parents may notice some behavioural changes – Some tantrums, some aggression, some unnatural behaviour. Some may even turn towards the unmentionable side of Internet.
The most important thing is to keep the children gainfully employed, in touch with their studies, and yet feel relaxed. So it becomes our job, not only to start on line learning classes but also to help the parents in better child management. You should open a dialogue with the parents (maybe through WhatsApp or e-mail) to explain to them to use this time for closer family bonding. May be a parent can start a hobby with his child. Creating something together with his parent can make a child feel loved and wanted in the house.
I know I am demanding a lot from you. But in these demanding times, a lot can be demanded; and as we all know, that in DAV, reward for good work, is more work. I am putting weight on the shoulders that I know can carry.
So let us stay indoors, stay healthy, and stay safe. Remember, the future of this great country is today in your classrooms. Look after yourself so that the future of my Country remains safe & secure.
May God Bless you! I will be praying for you.
Yours, in prayer,
Punam Suri

President’s Message (24th March 2020)
Dear Elders, brothers & sisters,
Corona Virus seems to be spreading at a fast pace, with more than 3,00,000 confirmed cases in the world. Practically every nation has gone into a Lock-down state. I think that this the first time that the entire human race, regardless of religion, language, colour, or nationality, have declared war against its common enemy – Corona Virus.
Since time im-memorial, a human being which is just a small organism, using the power of his brain, tried to control and rule over all other forms of life. And in his struggle for power, he played havoc with Nature. This epidemic has proven to us that when faced with the wrath of Nature, a micro-organism, like Corona Virus, is sufficient to paralyse, maim, and strangulate the entire human race. Let this be lesson to us, though a very expensive one, that all humanity must live with Nature and not at the expense of it. We, the disciples of Maharishi Dayanand ji, understand that we have to live as per the teachings of the Vedas, respecting all forms of life, and maintaining the balance of Nature. Let us pray:
“Oh Lord, the Creator & Protector,
Let the Celestial Shining region bestow peace upon us;
Let the mid-space (outer space) bestow peace;
Let there be peace on Earth; Let the waters be peaceful;
Let the medicines & medicinal plants be peace giving;
Let all Vegetation be peace giving;
Let the Sages & Intellectuals be peace loving;
Let all Divine Knowledge be peace giving;
Let there be peace in peacefulness;
Let peace & harmony be bestowed upon me and all of us.”
DAV, always ready to face the National calamities, declared all its 920 Institutions closed in 23 states of the country, till 31st March 2020 in an endeavour to break the Corona Virus growth chain. But also realising the responsibility of the future of its students, a system of “On-line Teaching” programmes have been started. The DAV Head Office has already started “Work from Home” concept. It will be our endeavour to keep the functioning as trouble free as possible. All this is achieved, and so quickly, because of the zeal & the efforts of the Office Bearers, Directors, R.O.s & A.R.O.s, Principals, teachers and the entire staff of DAV.
I appeal to all to take all preventive measures, and to please cooperate with the dictates of the Government, stay indoors, stay healthy and stay gainfully employed. Don’t be careless, be careful and yet remain care free. Pray and KEEP SMILING !
Yours, in prayer,
Punam Suri
