BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar organized DBT sponsored a two-day workshop on “Fabrication of Electronic Components” by Department of Physics. The resource persons for the workshop were Er. Bimal Kumar and Er. Chetan Verma from Department of Electrical Engineering, Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology, Amritsar. The students of B.Sc (Non-Medical) and B.Sc (Computer Science) Sem V participated in the workshop with great enthusiasm.
During the workshop, the students were imparted knowledge about the working of various electronic components like resistors, LED’s, transistors, switches, sockets and IC’s. Further, hands-on training was given to the students on the use of bread board and soldering of various electronics components on PCB’s. Breadboard is an essential tool for prototyping and building temporary circuits. The students participated enthusiastically and prepared projects on automatic street light controller, water level alarm, extension boards and staircase wiring etc. The resource persons also discussed about the methods of bulk transfer of electrical power from the power plants to the sub-stations and from the sub-stations to the consumers. They informed the students about the precautions they should follow while handling the electrical equipments. The main motive of the workshop was to inculcate scientific temper amongst the students and impart them a practical knowledge of the subject.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcomed the resource persons and presented them mementos. She congratulated Dr. Shaweta Mohan, Head, Department of Physics alongwith other faculty members, Mrs. Priyanka, Mr. Japinder Singh, Ms. Vandana Rawat and Mrs. Tanvi Mahajan for the great success of the workshop.
