Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia presented a research paper entitled “When the Guru Calls…Golden Temple and the Coming of Age of Tourism in Amritsar” in an international conference organised on 15th and 16th June, 2019 at Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge. The paper focuses on how Golden Temple, the most sacred shrine of the Sikhs, has created, shaped & transformed the city of Amritsar into one of the prominent tourist capitals of the country. She also chaired a session entitled “The Journey Within: Aspects of Life, Art and Legacy in Liminal Progressions” at this conference. Both the conferences were widely attended by participants from countries across the globe.
Principal Dr. Walia also presented a paper on “Out of Joint: How Madness Defines History in Saadat Hasan Manto’s Stories ‘Toba Tek Singh’ and ‘Cold Meat'” at an international conference held from 4th – 7th June, 2019. This conference was organised at Central European University, Budapest, Hungary.
Principal Dr. Walia has also presented papers earlier at various international conferences in UK, Canada, Germany, USA and Austria.
