At BBK DAV College for Women, Lawrence Road, Amritsar, a UGC sponsored 7 Days Faculty Programme on the theme of “Road Ahead- Opportunities, Challenges and Perspectives in Higher Education” which was in line with the UGC’s norms essential for measuring the performance of academics all across the country, concluded successfully. A total number of 31 participants from different colleges of Punjab have attended the programme. The Chief Guest in the valedictory session was Prof. Dr. N.K. Ojha, Dept. of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcomed the Chief Guest by presenting saplings to the Chief Guest that symbolizes cleaner and greener environment. In her Welcome Address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and highlighting the mission and vision of 7 days long programme she said that we make memories during such programmes and learn a lot of new things from the experience of learned resource persons. She also lauded the efforts of the convener Mr. Anurag Gupta and his team of organizing committee for making this event a success.
The seven days long event consisted of 17 technical sessions deliberating on the topics ranging from the use of ICT in education to stress management in day to day life to Importance of Historical sense and improving interpersonal relations. The participants of this course were fortunate enough to learn innovative teaching techniques and strategies from the experts like Dr. Gurvinder Singh (2 Sessions), Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Dr. Jasveen Kaur (2 sessions), Dr. Rupan Dhillon, Dr. Davinder Singh, Dr. Saroj Arora, Dr. Amandeep Singh, Dr. Kuljit Kaur Chahal (2 session), Dr. Jaspal Singh, Dr. Amit Kauts, Dr. Manpreet Singh Bhatti, Dr. Manbir Singh Bhullar and Dr. N.K. Ojha.
In the Valedictory Address, Dr. N.K. Ojha told about the importance of emotional intelligence which covers the three points of knowing, controlling and then maintaining a balance between two. He emphasized that there is huge need for organizing such an event on a regular basis as such kind of training programmes are very essential for the professional development of the teachers and it is considered as one of the noblest professions.
The report of the programme was read by Mrs. Jaspreet Bedi, co-convener of 7 days FDP. The participants also shared their experience and learning of the whole programme. The certificates were given to the participants.
Vote of thanks was presented by Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC in which he felicitated the Principal and Staff on the successful completion of 7 day FDP. He urged the teachers to perform their duties sincerely and honestly as the future of our nation is dependent on the quality of teaching and learning process.
