Arya Yuvati Sabha of BBK DAV College organized a celebratory havan to mark the auspicious Makar Skranti and to pray to God Almighty for the success of all its ventures in the new semester. Mrs. And Mr. Gagan Chopra graced the occasion as Chief Guests.
For NSS unit of the college, it was a thanks giving ceremony for the success of their 7-day camp. A documentary covering the important activities of the camp was also shown on the occasion. Outstanding volunteers, Sameeksha (B.Com Sem-6) and Sonalpreet (BA Sem-5) were awarded prizes for their commendable services.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia highlighted the significance of praying together. She stressed upon the great need of community service in our lives and motivated the NSS volunteers to contribute towards the common good of the society in every possible way. She expressed her heartfelt thanks to the Chief Guests and other dignitaries for sparing their valuable time for the havan.
Sh. Gagan Chopra, in his address to the students, stressed upon the crucial significance of student life. He exhorted them to make the fullest use of every moment to lead a successful and hassel-free life.
Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal, member, LMC called upon the students to learn the true meaning of Havan and the right procedure to perform it. He was highly appreciative of the college Principal for her efforts to sow the seeds of selfless service in her students’ minds.
Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC, proposing vote of thanks to the audience, stressed upon the importance of cultivating one’s inherent talents and tendencies. Polishing and honing of inborn talents alone can help one attain Moksha, he added. He appealed to the students to preserve and promote the rich heritage of Arya Samaj. He congratulated the volunteers for the remarkable services rendered by them during the 7-day camp. He spoke highly of the immeasurable contribution made by BBK DAV College towards the society.
Mr. Vijay Mehak and his team from the Department of Music created a spiritually edifying environment with their mellifluous rendering of the bhajan ‘Mil Kar Om Japo’. Chairman, Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor and Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia gifted plants as souvenirs to the distinguished guests.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Sh. Mohinderjit Singh, Sh. Vipin Bhasin (member, LMC), Mrs. Balbir Kaur Bedi, Sh. Hira Lal Kandhari, Sh. Rakesh Mehra, Sh. Sandeep Ahuja (Office bearers of Arya Samaj), college faculty and students. The Havan concluded with shanti path.
