BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar celebrated Swacchta Pakhwada -15 day cleanliness drive under UGC notification as a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. As the culmination of the two week long celebrations, a valedictory function was organised in which Dr. Harmohinder Singh, Chancellor of Central University, Himachal Pradesh was the Chief Guest. Dr. Shivaji Rai, Head of CTVS department, GND hospital was the Guest of Honour.
Welcoming the guests, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that cleanliness is the main concern of government of India. BBK DAV College for Women has always been working diligently in sync with the goals of the government. She congratulated the NSS team on the completion of this programme and she also highlighted the evils that are plaguing our society and how youth can eradicate them. She believes that youth of today has the power to bring the desired change in society by actively participating in such schemes which are executed for the betterment of nation. Appreciating college’s initiative, Chancellor Sir Dr. Harmohinder Singh encouraged the students to take small steps which can bring big changes in the society.
The winners of various competitions organised under the scheme were awarded by the dignitaries present on the occasion. Best campaigner award was given to Divyanshi and Agrima Sharma. Samiksha and Muskan were awarded the ‘Best Environment Conservator Award’. Special Documentation award was given to Samriti and Jasleen Kaur was given best NSS volunteer Award. A total of 100 volunteers participated in the programme and 70 were honoured.
Dr. Anita Narendra, Associate Professor in Hindi, NSS Programme Officers, Mrs. Surbhi Sethi, Ms. Priya Sharma, Dr. Shveta Kapoor, Ms. Neha Sehgal, Mr. Munish Bhatia, Mr. Rajdeep Mehra and Ms. Priyanka Chug were also present.
