BBK DAV COLLEGE FOR WOMEN ORGANISES A WORKSHOP ON STRESS MANAGEMENT FOR MENTAL HEALTH

BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a workshop on “Stress Management for Mental Health” for the hostel residents in the companies. The workshop was conducted with the aim of strengthening students’ mental well-being and equipping them with practical strategies to manage stress effectively.

The session was facilitated by Ms. Manmeet Kaur and Ms. Aarti Dhingra, Counselling Psychologists, Bliss De-Stress Counselling Centre, Amritsar. The experts addressed common challenges faced by hostel students, such as isolation, academic pressure, homesickness, and adjustment issues. They emphasised the importance of solution-oriented thinking and encouraged students to engage in self-reflection without judgment.

During the workshop, participants were guided through various tools and reflective exercises to enhance self-awareness, identify unfulfilled needs, and develop healthy coping mechanisms for stress management. The facilitators also conducted an interactive session introducing practical techniques such as gratitude journaling, deep breathing exercises, and Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) to promote mental health and emotional balance.

Appreciating the initiative, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia stated that the college remains committed to the holistic development of students and places great importance on mental health awareness. She highlighted that such workshops play a vital role in helping students manage stress, build emotional resilience, and maintain a healthy balance between academic and personal life.

Ms. Arushi, Department of Psychology and Ms. Binnie Sharma, Department of Commerce were also present during the event.
