BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, has taken a significant step towards strengthening its mental health support system by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bliss Destress, a counselling and wellness centre run by a renowned counselling psychologist Dr Simardeep Gill.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia signed the MoUs in the presence of Ms Kamayani Anand, Dean Academics, Dr Shweta, Nodal Officer (Mental Health), and Mr Ashok, Supervisor, BBK DAV Senior Secondary Collegiate School. Under this collaboration, two separate MoUs were signed, one for BBK DAV College for Women and the other for BBK DAV Senior Secondary Collegiate School. These MoUs aimed at providing professional counselling services, mental health awareness programmes, workshops, and psychological support to students and staff.
As part of the initiative, regular counselling sessions, stress-management workshops and mental health awareness programmes will be organised for students, parents, and teaching as well as non-teaching staff to strengthen emotional well-being and resilience.
On the occasion, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia emphasised the importance of mental health and wellness. The Principal said that mental health is as important as physical health, especially for students navigating academic pressures and personal challenges. She added that this collaboration with Bliss Destress reflects the college’s firm commitment to nurturing a supportive, empathetic, and mentally healthy campus where students feel safe, heard, and empowered.
