BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar organized a ‘Vedic Havan Yajna’ at the historic Arya Samaj Lohgarh, Amritsar in the sacred memory of Mahatma Hansraj Ji. Sh. J.P. Shoor, President, Arya Pradeshik Up Sabha, Punjab, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Advisory Committee, attended the havan as Mukhya Yajman.
In her address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia offered thanks to the Almighty and extended a warm welcome to all the distinguished guests. Principal Dr. Walia dedicated the havan to Mahatma Hansraj Ji, describing him as a visionary who transformed the world through education and social reforms. She traced the glorious history of the DAV movement, recalling how the first DAV School was founded as an immortal tribute to Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, emphasizing that education, as envisioned by these pioneers, has a lasting and transformative impact. Principal Dr. Walia reiterated the major role of Arya Rattan, Dr. Punam Suri, Padam Shree Awardee, as President of DAV Managing Committee and Pradhan of Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, New Delhi, in bringing about positive social transformation through education. She also highlighted the Vedic initiatives and significant achievements accomplished by BBK DAV College for Women during the year 2025, reaffirming its commitment to the ideals of the Arya Samaj.
In his address, Sh. J.P. Shoor extended heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Pushpinder Walia and lauded her for organizing the event with deep devotion and purpose. He added that BBK DAV College holds a distinctive place in the field of education. Reflecting on the life of Mahatma Hansraj Ji, Sh. Shoor reminded everyone that he devoted his entire life to the cause of selfless service and education. He emphasized that the best way to honor this great soul is by giving back to society through dedication, righteous conduct, and by living in accordance with the principles of Arya Samaj—to “Be good and make good”—thereby purifying one’s existence and contributing to the betterment of humanity.
The event also featured melodious bhajans by the Department of Music of the college as well as a soulful performance by DAV Public School, Amritsar, which created a divine ambience.
On this occasion, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia honored the chief guest, members of Arya Samaj, and other dignitaries with mementoes. Mr. Sudarshan Kapoor expressed gratitude to all the attendees. The program was conducted by Dr. Anita Narendra, Head, Department of Hindi.
The event was also attended by Local Advisory Committee members including Dr. Arvind Sharma, Mr. Ashok Kapoor, and Mr. Sandeep Ahuja, Mr. Vijay Kumar from Arya Samaj Shakti Nagar, Mr. Inderpal Arya, President, Arya Samaj Laxmansar, Mr. Ravi Mehra from Arya Samaj Lawrence Road, Mrs. Balbir Kaur Bedi, and Dr. Pallavi Sethi, Principal, DAV Public School, Amritsar.
Members and office bearers of the Arya Yuvati Sabha along with students of the college also participated in the event. The ceremony concluded with the recitation of the ‘Shanti Path’ invoking peace and harmony for all.
