BBK DAV COLLEGE FOR WOMEN NSS VOLUNTEERS PARTICIPATE IN DISASTER MANAGEMENT TRAINING CAMP

BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, actively participated in a Disaster Management Training Programme organised by the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), Government of Punjab, under the aegis of Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme. The training programme was conducted from 24th to 30th January 2026 at Government Polytechnic College.

The initiative aimed to equip youth volunteers with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively respond to disasters and emergency situations. The sessions covered key aspects of disaster management, including types of natural and man-made disasters, preparedness and mitigation strategies, first aid and basic life-saving techniques, search and rescue operations, emergency response, evacuation and relief management, and the role of youth volunteers during crises.

Practical demonstrations, mock drills, and interactive sessions were conducted to provide hands-on training and real-time exposure to emergency response mechanisms. A total of 12 NSS volunteers from the college participated enthusiastically in the intensive training programme and were awarded certificates upon its successful completion.

Among the participants, Ms. Bhavya, a student of B.Com. Semester VI and an NSS volunteer, was adjudged the Best Volunteer and earned special recognition for her outstanding dedication and exemplary service during the camp.

Expressing her pride, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia stated that the college remains committed to nurturing socially responsible and capable young leaders who can contribute meaningfully during emergencies. She further added that such training programmes are essential in today’s times, when unforeseen disasters can occur at any moment.
