International Linkages

Fame on Foreign Land - College Artistes Swept Chinese audience off their feet with Giddha beats

Four Gidha Artistes of the College- Sharandeep, Antarpreet, Robinjeet and Kirandeep, got the rare honour of being selected by the ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India, for promoting Punjabi Folklore and gidha in China. They were part of a hundred members delegation led by Shri Arun Yadav, Minister of State and Mrs. Hirdai Pal Kaur, Director Youth Services Punjab. During their ten day tour, they shook the dancing floor with their performances and won applause. They also had intense interactive sessions with Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee and local youth volunteers.

The college being a progressive and dynamic institution, has maintained linkages with key global educational organizations like UNESCO, UNICEF, WCCI, WEF, Kent County Council, Technology College, Northfleet, Hextable School, UK, World Punjabi Congress (Pakistan), ROKO Cancer Society (UK) and with educationists forum, Singapore. The scholars and experts visit the college from time to time and hold symposiums and workshops and the members of the BBK DAV family also go across the globe to perform and outperform.
WCCI (World Council of Curriculum & Instruction)
WCCI is a transnational educational organization with HQ at Alliant University San Diego USA, committed to advancing the achievement of a just and peaceful world community. It promotes a person-to-person contact and professional relationship. It is an NGO of the U.N.; UNESCO: B Status; on the roster of the Economic and Social Council.
The college got associated with WCCI as early as 1986. In 1987, the WCCI India Chapter was established and the college got involved in the project of promoting Human Rights Education in the schools in the vicinity.The college hosted the third regional conference of WCCI India Chapter on ‘Education Technology: Promise and Performance' in November 1990 and the 8th Triennial World Conference that was attended by more than 350 delegates from all parts of the globe.
WEF (World Education Fellowship)
The heart of WEF is the belief that education can play a key role in establishing a world community characterized by peace, understanding and cooperation. It is established in 1921, the World Education Fellowship is an international, volunteer organization with autonomous sections in many countries of the world; with HQ at Australia.The former principal Mrs. S.Ahlawat attended the various conferences of WEF.
USEFI ( U.S. Education Foundation in India)
The central organization in the history of educational exchange between the United States and India is the U.S. Educational Foundation in India (USEFI). The foundation is a bi-national undertaking between the governments of India and the United States. Its board of directors is made up of representatives of the University Grants Commission, the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the American Embassy, as well as other distinguished Indian and American scholars and educators. Former Principal and memebers of the faculty availed themselves of the exchange programme of USEFI.
Bermultinational Limited is an international consulting firm headed by Dr.Bert Phillips & Ms. Judith Phillips with HQs at Silver Spring, Maryland, US. The firm specializes in innovative approaches to organizational development and management and designs. The quality focus systems encourage client organizations to become full partners with their specialists. Dr. Bert Phillips and Ms. Judith Phillips visited the college in 1991 & 1995 and conducted a series of workshops for the faculty. Former principal was associated with the organization. The college is trying to revive this linkage in near future.
Group Study Exchange of Rotary International
  • Dr. Neeta Mohindra was invited to visit USA under Group Study Exchange Programme of Rotary International in 1991. An exhibition of her paintings was also arranged there in Oklahoma Hotel, Oklahoma.
  • Mrs. Poonam Rampal visited USA under Group Study Exchange Programme of Rotary International in 1994.
Mr. Purvin and Ms. Sarah of FETCH, a puppet and mask theatre company based in Ludlow, England visited our institution and conducted theatre and shadow puppet making workshop of eight days. Post Graduate students of Fine Arts department attended the shadow puppet-making workshop and also created a puppet show on their own.

Purvin and Sarah worked with student members of the dramatic club of the college and prepared a short play using puppets and live characters. Same year they invited our faculty member Dr. Neeta Mohindra to England to prepare and perform a play ‘Land of Five Rivers’. This play was presented (50 shows) all over England including London, Manchester & Birmingham. During Dr. Mohindra’s visit she was also a member of the team which conducted a theatre workshop of school students in Birmingham.

KCC (Kent County Council)

BBK DAV college has maintained a close educational and cultural linkage with KCC and with various educational institutions in Kent like Technology College NorthFleet, Institute of Performing Arts, Hextable School and organizations like  Desi Crew, KSP-Videoshoot Company  etc. The young artist of the college performed in the UK in 2001 and won championship in Adult Folk Dance Festival at Wales in 2002. The Principal Mrs. J. Kackria, Dr. S. Arya & a team of  students again visited UK and France in July 2003.The artists gave more than 16 performances in Gidda and Chamba Khidiya and conducted workshops in Folk Art. The visit was reciprocated by two UK delegations in Feb. 2003 and Oct. 2003. Workshops, lectures , exhibitions and displays by both the sides formed the most important part of the stimulating interaction between the two.Some important workshops were conducted by Mr. John Brazier , Mrs. Verinnia Rees,Mr. Steve Rees, Ms. Shannon Bishop, Ms. Dola Feyistan, Mr. Andy Riddle, Mrs. Jean Joblin,Ms. Vicky Danville and Ms. Sue Priest.
